Reminiscing a man of letters...Debashish Bandyopadhyay. ...It was around April, 2009. I was at" Mayurakshi"(name of the house) for collecting an article. Bamada (well known writer Bamaprasad Mukhopadhyay) gave me the connection to the landlord. Bookshelf is a common factor in any author’s house. But I had not at all been prepared for the prodigious aura I perceived that day. No sooner the handsome old man had come and taken a chair in front of my couch that I could fully comprehended his dignified peerage. The veteran was smoking in his elegant gesture. Years after , once in a personal discussion Debasish Bandyopadhyay coined his cigarette as a quiet companion of solitude. Prior to my admiration of him as a maverick literary figure he was regarded as a legitimate peer of mine. The last of the peers lived at an era awfully characterized by its inherent kakistocracy.

25th November, Kolkata: Just a year after enthralling the audience with ‘Har Har Byomkesh’, Shree Venkatesh Films and Surinder Films are back once again with a revamped Byomkesh Bakshi – Arindam Sil directed ‘ Byomkesh Pawrbo’.
The theatrical trailer of the second installment of the Byomkesh Bakshi series – ‘ Byomkesh Pawrbo’ was launched by the cast and crew of the film at the J.W Marriott Hotel at 12 noon on 18th November - Friday. This rebooted franchise will see an eclectic cast - Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar, Ritwick Chakraborty, Rajatavo Dutta, June Malia, Sayantika Banerjee, Kaushik Sen, Sumonto Mukherjee and others. Releasing on 16th December, this Christmas release promises to enthrall the audience with a more gripping narrative and some unabated action.
Based on Sharadindu Bandhopadhyay’s classic series, the quintessential cerebral Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi will be revealing his daring side as he pulls off some daredevil stunts for very the first time. ‘ Byomkesh Pawrbo’ begins immediately after the independence, where the undaunted seeker of truth will make his way through the dark jungles of Dooars solving the engima of a ghostrider and ensuing murders in North Bengal.
Declaring his unending admiration for the Byomkesh series, director Arindam Sil explained why going back to this particular series is immensely important to him. “ I can keep re-inventing Byomkesh for multiple times and in multiple ways. Byomkesh Bakshi is one character in Bengali literature whose colossal depth lies in the multiple layers of his persona. Though he is a deep thinker, a ‘satyanweshi’ yet his unflinching courage , righteous nature and dauntless spirit keep him apart from the rest. In ‘Byomkesh Pawrbo’ , audience can actually get to see a rare side of Byomkesh’s persona. A sleuth who always goes beyond his limits to divulge the truth and never refrains to strike back when situation requires.” stated Arindam Sil.
Mahendra Soni, Director, Shree Venkatesh Films, said , “ Byomkesh is my all time favourite sleuth like every other Bengali. After all the brilliant responses we got for Har Har Byomkesh, we just couldn’t keep our audience waiting for long. We had to come back with detective Byomkesh Bakshi, but adding more nail-biting twist and turns to keep all of you at the edge of your seats till the end”.
OMG! Arshi Khan has done it again. After painting the Indian and Pakistan flags on her bare, semi-nude back last year during the 20-20 World cup, Arshi Khan who plays the main lead in director Maneesh Singh's film "Green Terror" reportedly posed with a Pakistani flag painted on her bust and crotch.
Some photographs which were leaked reportedly by a photographer, show Arshi Khan posing with the Pakistani flag painted on her bikini - both on her bust and crotch and her bare bosom and back.
According to sources, while the leaked photographs which first appeared on Facebook depict Arshi Khan in a bikini, our sources tell us that Arshi Khan has posed completely nude for the same film. She plays a female terrorist who is used by her handlers in Pak to seduce Indian military officials and leak out sensitive information about military assets in North India.
Chennai and Mumbai-based director and producer Maneesh Singh refused to comment on the subject. Please ask Arshi Khan about the photos, he said, adding that they did shoot a controversial poster for his film "Green Terror" but he does not know from where the current photographs have appeared. While the photographs which have appeared on Facebook seem to be edited, the uncensored images can be seen here.
Last year, Singh announced a film with controversial Pakistani model - the late Qandeel Baloch - who he claimed was his 'good friend'. But the film was shelved following the Uri attacks and after the Pakistan government denied Singh and his team permission to shoot in Pakistan.
Talking about his ties with Baloch, he said that they used to speak via telephone 2-3 time in a month and also spoke to each other just before her death. We were very close to each other for over 18 months, he added.
“We were discussing a film project and if she could visit India to shoot the film or settle in Mumbai,” Maneesh Singh had told reporters at that time.
According to media reports the film named “Ghairat” – referring to the word honor in English – was supposed to feature the issue of honour killing in both Pakistan and India.
In an interview, Singh had said: “I will soon file a formal request with the Pakistani government to get permission to shoot the film in her native village in Pakistan,” further adding that Qandeel was a revolutionary girl.
Maneesh Singh is associated with Frank Franklyn Films, Vision Telefilms and Vrindaavan Films as director and co-producer and is currently working on four Tamil film projects - Razia, Haider and the Tiger of Mysore. His Bollywood projects on the drawing board include College Khiladis and Crimson Khaki.
According to our sources, the leaked photographs are "trial shots" or reference photos which were junked or discarded after being shot for the initial poster of Maneesh Singh's film Green Terror. Arshi Khan was not available for comment.
