Mir and Jishu to bring Aranya-Deb on screen in Debasish Sen Sharma’s next
Kolkata, October, 16, 2014 (Washington Bangla Radio): Mir, perhaps the most versatile artist in Bengal, is known for his ability to do justice to the infinite number of talents he possesses. He is the best emcee for any show whether it’s a charity function or a high profile award ceremony. He is also a superb television anchor, an enthralling singer, an entertaining Radio Jockey and many more. He has also shown his acting skills a lot of times in films like Bhooter Bhabisyat, Obhisopto Nightie, Aschorjyo Pradip and Natobar Not Out. But all those roles in which Mir was seen were mere cameos or extended cameos. But the long wait for his fans to watch him as a lead actor is over at last. Debasish Sen Sharma has casted Mir as one of the two protagonists (other being Jishu Sengupta) in his next directorial venture. The project titled as ‘Aranya Deb’ is a fantasy drama where two childhood friends Aranya(Jishu) and Deb(Mir) meet again after long 25 years. On meeting they relive the memories of their childhood which they had spent in the 80’s Kolkata and something magical happens on the day of their meeting which will be revealed in the film only. Though the title of the film may lead many to think that it’s a superhero flick about the Lee Falk creation named Phantom, actually its entirely a different story. The director also hints that those expecting a superhero movie are not going to be disappointed at all as there are elements of superhero in the movie but the details of that cannot be divulged at this moment.
